Basic Pistol Instruction Training Course

This course is open to anyone 14 years or older; either permit holders seeking instruction on the safe and efficient handling of their gun or novices who simply want to learn what handgun shooting is about. The course is six hours long and includes training in safe and efficient handling and operation of a handgun. Students will receive background on types of handguns, actions and ammunition; instruction on the fundamentals of shooting (grip, stance, aiming and trigger control); cleaning and storing of handguns. Classroom session will be followed by individual instruction in a hands-on live fire session at the range. All students will receive hands-on, individual instruction at the range. Those with permits and handguns will shoot; those without permits will be taught in a simulated shooting environment. All instruction is conducted in a safe, non-intimidating manner.
Please Note: This course does not meet the requirements for a conceal carry permit.
Required Items for Class
- Hearing Protection
- Eye Protection
- Handgun (optional for permit holders)
- At least 20 rounds of ammunition (no jacketed bullets)
- Valid NYS pistol permit (if a handgun is brought)
The firearm training course is taught by professional instructors. Class size is limited and is booked on a first-come first-serve basis.
