Basic Pistol Instruction Training Course

This course is open to anyone 21 or older seeking instruction on the safe and effective handling of handguns as well as those wishing to apply for the Florida non-resident permit.  Valid NYS pistol permit is required for the Florida application, but even people without permits may take the NRA Basic course.  Students receive background on types of handguns, actions and ammunition; instruction on the fundamentals of shooting (grip, stance, aiming and trigger control); cleaning and storing of handguns.  Classroom session will be followed by individual instruction in a hands-on live fire session at a local range.  Students with guns should bring at least 50 rounds of ammunition (no magnum ammunition allowed); those who don’t have guns may use a loaners from the instructors and purchase ammunition at the site.  Students who don’t have permits will shoot guns fitted with lasers on simulated targets.  Those students will not, however, receive NRA certification.  All instruction is conducted in a safe, non-intimidating manner by two professional instructors.

Required Items for Class

  • Hearing Protection
  • Eye Protection
  • Handgun (optional for permit holders)
  • At least 50 rounds of ammunition (no magnum or jacketed bullets)
  • Valid NYS pistol permit (if a handgun is brought)

Firearm training by NRA certified professional instructors.  Class size is limited and is booked on a first-come first-serve basis.

This course is an NRA Basic Pistol Course. It is geared for persons looking to obtain knowledge and skills in pistol shooting as well as those persons looking to obtain a Florida Non-Resident Pistol Permit. The Florida Non- Resident Permit is recognized in at least 33 other States. Long Arm Investigative Services will provide the required additional Florida paperwork along with the required fingerprinting for the client to apply for their Florida Non-Resident Permit.
Classes will be at Insight Archery, 73 Griswold St. Binghamton, N.Y. 13904, 9 AM - 5PM. The cost will be: Basic Course only $85.00. Basic Course with Florida Permit offer $130.00.
